Bob, a gentleman I've known only through correspondence as he's a faithful reader of my newspaper column and blog, invited me to visit and meet his wife, Jane. Visiting with friends and family during the Holidays can be quite joyous, but if you haven't seen the individual in a while, and you realize that they have a disease such as alzheimers, it can be a bit upsetting. That happened to me this holiday season. A friend of mine lives in a retirement community and he and his wife live on their own, but the years have definately gotten the best of them. Although they knew who I was, the alzheimers disease has affected them in a few ways.
