AgingCare.com has a good article on that old question of how to get an impaired elderly driver to quit driving. The short answer I always give is that you need a third party. This excellent article by
Leonard J. Hansen, Journalist and Author titled "Taking the Keys: What To Do If Mom or Dad Won't Give Them Up" is worth your time. It also has a link to an article that can help you decide when the time is right. The article begins:

"At some time you will feel concern or even fear that Mom or Dad should no longer drive an automobile. You have now reached a decision that the person for whom you are providing care must no longer drive."
