Seniors Can Help Fight Scams by Reporting Them

Dear Carol: My mother is 76-years-old. Even though she’s still mentally sharp, she nearly got stung by a recent phone scam. She received a call from New York starting out with “Hi Seniors!” The recorded pitch was to give her a free personal alarm. Naturally, she would have had to give up all kinds of information in order to get it and I’m not all that sure that she would have received anything other than a stolen identity. She caught on soon enough not to give out information, but I know that other seniors are targets, too. Please warn people about these calls. -  Aaron
