Caregivers Can’t Fix Everything for Loved Ones

Dear Carol: My mom is in a nursing home because of age-related issues. Her mind seems okay but her body is frail. She’s 87 and suffers from severe arthritis and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease caused by year of smoking. Mom in our home for three years but she came to need more care than my family could provide without me quitting my job, which we can’t afford. She took her move to an excellent nursing home with some grace considering that she’s never been an easy person to please. That was two years ago. Now, all she does is complain.
